Known for her eclectic personal fashion sense, Hong Kong native Tina Leung is a fashion stylist, editor, and blogger who has made a name for herself in the fashion industry.
Tina was born on March 27, 1982, in Hong Kong. She relocated with her family to Orange County, California, when she was barely 2 years old, then moved back to Hong Kong at age 12. Tina has 3 younger sisters, whom she regards as the most significant people in her life.
According to Tina, her interest in fashion began when they moved back to Hong Kong. Typical of a young girl inspired by what she read and saw in magazines, she started borrowing her mother's oversized leather boots and wore them every day.
Fulfilling her childhood dream of becoming an actress, she finished a degree in drama, film, and television from the University of Bristol, in the UK. However, upon realizing that she wanted to work in fashion, she decided to pursue a degree at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York. Besides her formal education, she also gained experience while assisting various stylists in New York City.
Her first styling job was for Prestige Hong Kong. When asked about it in an interview with HashtagLegend.com, she described it as "No sleep. No pay. It was fabulous. I learned a lot."
Since her return to Hong Kong in 2005, she's earned her living writing articles, styling, and organizing and hosting events. She has worked with publications like "Harper's Bazaar," "Elle," "L'Uomo Vogue," "Tatler," and "Modern Weekly." Tina has also styled celebrities Karen Mok, Yu Jin Kim, and the renowned Italian businessman, James Ferragamo.
In her work writing for magazines, she has interviewed celebrated designers like Giuseppe Zanotti, Collette Dinnigan, Kenneth Jay Lane, Nicholas Kirkwood, and Simon Wilson.
Tina has collaborated with fashion labels, organized trunk shows, and attended fashion weeks around Asia, America, and Europe. She has also produced runway shows for brands such as Harvey Nichols, Tiffany and Co., Anne Klein, and Pringle of Scotland.
Additionally, Tina also spends time posting personal blogs. She started blogging in July 2010 at TinaLeungBlog.wordpress.com, then switched to her website, TinaLoves.com, which showcases her lifestyle.
She's said that her creative inspirations are the works of well-known photographers Camilla Akrans, Paolo Roversi, and Guy Bourdin. Tina confesses in several of her interviews that she doesn't have a fashion icon, which she thinks is weird.
In 2011, Tina took home the "Stylist of the Year - The Best of Asia Pacific Luxury Providers" award from the Quintessentially Awards Asia Pacific.
In the early years of her career, her half-shaved haircut was her signature look. She disclosed in her interview with Coveteur.com, that she had her hairstylist cut it every two weeks.
As a fashion icon and influencer, Tina invests time in beautifying herself, and even shares her beauty secrets with Vogue.com. Some of those she shared are taking yoga classes and going to the acupuncturist to help her skin become tighter.
Besides sharing her beauty routines, Tina also did a short Hong Kong city guide for H and M Life, showing her go-to destinations in the city.
Expected of a fashion enthusiast, she can be seen wearing luxury fashion brands, high-street labels, or local Hong Kong lines of apparel. Tina admits that she has an exquisite taste in clothing and she likes anything different that catches her attention. She said her most extravagant purchase was a Roberto Cavalli gown and a Balenciaga motorcycle bag, with she bought with her first paycheck.
Off-duty, she likes to unwind by traveling, often with her friends. She especially loves going to beaches to relax with some cocktails and dress in colorful bathing suits. Her love for food is also apparent as she regularly posts photos of mouth-watering delicacies on her Instagram account.
