Allgood Lounge is located on Clayton Street in Athens, a small yet lively southern town in Georgia. The town is considered by many to be one of the best college towns, as well as one of the most livable places, in the United States. Known for its music scene, it is home to a number of hit musicians like R.E.M., Indigo Girls, Matthew Sweet, and the B-52s. Rolling Stone magazine once called Athens the best college music town in the country.

It's no surprise that a town with such a rich intellectual, art, and music culture hosts over 80 bars catering to the diverse local population. Amidst these establishments is Allgood Lounge, established and incorporated around 2004, and categorized as a cocktail lounge. Its home is a two story building which was formerly an automobile shop. Its current interior should look familiar to any regular bar or pub patron.

Consisting of brick walls, dark wood, and high ceilings, it's decorated with neon lights, gig posters, and vintage bar kitsch. Big screen televisions in each area ensure that patrons don't miss out on any action come game night. The building accommodates the lounge's three full-service bars. It has a main bar on the ground level. The bar on the second level provides that cozy pub feel with its pool tables and couches. A garage door opens up to the third patio Tiki bar, which doubles as a smoking lounge.

Allgood's customers can choose from over two hundred bottled beers, including micro brewed, domestic, and imported options. The bar also rotates twenty draft beers that are available daily on tap. For hard drinks, patrons can either take shots or a pour from a selection of over fifty whiskeys and more than fifteen tequilas.

Bar tenders can also whip up classic and signature cocktails and shots with playful names such as the MILF, Plan B, and the Big Wood. For customers who prefer to sip on wine, Allgood keeps a decent selection, with options in three different price points. A glass of Pinot Noir, Merlot, or Chardonnay will range from five to nine dollars, while a whole bottle costs between fifteen and thirty.

Part of the bar's staple repertoire is a classic hangover cure in the form of a build-your-own Bloody Mary station. Happy hour welcomes guests from 5 to 10 PM. Regular patrons have formed a sense of community, and the bar indulges by regularly hosting events like sponsored beer tastings, holiday themed parties, and game nights. The establishment's strictly 21-and-over clientele is a good mix of people, with no real label that defines them. Locals, college students, tourists, and townies all frequent the bar.

Considered a success by the town's demanding and competitive bar scene, Allgood's excellent staff, management, and flowing space make the place a must-go stop in Athens. The venue accepts all major credit cards and doesn't require a card minimum to keep a tab open.

Allgood's staff is well-trained, personable, and friendly. Bar tenders take care of their customers and serve drinks fast and stiff. They are all indoctrinated with a forty-page handbook that outlines the bar's commitment to providing customer service of the highest level.
