Many people nowadays have collections or prized possessions that are too valuable or delicate to be simply left on a shelf or mantelpiece, let alone handled without care. Therefore, a suitable display case is essential if you want to preserve the integrity of the item whilst still being able to showcase it and allow it to be admired.
The display cases featured in this review are suitable for a whole range of different collectibles, ranging in size from small compartments, for things like jewelry or toys, to large shelves that can hold oversized or multiple items. If you're looking to display a single item, then the Lanscoery Countertop Cube is a cheap and practical option available in a range of sizes, however, it offers only limited protection, and may not be sturdy enough for very valuable items. The Better Display Cases are similar in design but are a little more robust as they are formed from a single piece of acrylic. The Mooca Natural Wood is another smaller case that comes with a velvet cushion and is good for displaying several small, delicate items. Factory Direct Display Cabinet and the J Jackcube Design Shadow Box are both wall-mounted, and have small shelves or cubbies that are useful for showing multiple small pieces.
The larger cabinets we considered can be freestanding, or placed on a countertop, and are good for those with extensive collections. They come in a variety of styles, from modern, all-glass designs to classic wooden pieces that stand out as an item of furniture in their own right. The Bowery Hill Hexagonal offers a 360-degree view, is made from glass and chrome, and has a very contemporary feel. Similarly, the Coaster Home Furnishings Curio Cabinet can be viewed from all sides and has a streamlined styling with minimalist black framing. Both of these options would suit any modern apartment or office space. On the other hand, the SEI Furniture Essex Corner, the Sauder Shoal Creek Elise, and the Design Toscano Country Tuscan are more traditionally styled pieces of furniture made from wood, with a high-quality finish and hardware. They have different styles to complement your decor and furnishings, however, they do tend to impede the view somewhat due to their larger frames.
