The 10 Best Pokémon Costumes

Updated May 27, 2020 by Sam Kraft

This wiki has been updated 23 times since it was first published in November of 2017. While they probably won’t win any creative costume contests, these Pokémon outfits are nearly as fun as the video game franchise of the same name, which is one of the best-selling of all time. While most of these are sized and styled for kids, some options can be worn by teenagers or even adventurous adults. We've included getups for both males and females, and some even double as pajamas. When users buy our independently chosen editorial recommendations, we may earn commissions to help fund the Wiki. Special Honors

Lily Pajamas Snorlax Low maintenance, super comfortable, and fun to look at — what’s not to love about a Pokémon onesie? This charming costume is based on Snorlax, the franchise’s gentle giant that resembles a mix between a hippo and a panda bear. It has an easy-to-use button closure and little claws at the end of the sleeves. lilypajamas.com

Fanplusfriend Serena This is a nice option for enthusiasts of the Pokémon X and Y games, especially those who want to head out dressed like Serena, Ash Ketchum’s childhood friend and fellow trainer. Available in a wide array of sizes, it includes a black sleeveless blouse and a mid-thigh skirt in a stylish red color. fan-store.net

Inflatable Detective Pikachu You’ll attract a lot of eyeballs and likely generate quite a few laughs with this big inflatable Pikachu costume. It comes in a small version for kids and a large one for adults, both of which include a fan for blowing it up. The battery pack fastens to the elastic waistband with a cord. costumepartyworld.com

Editor's Notes

May 22, 2020:

Availability issues led to the removal of three items: the Honey Badger Comic, BOS Treeko, and Miccostumes Ketchum.

Updated the Pokémon Hoodie, noting that it’s no longer available in two sizes. Indicated that while the Saianke Trainer does have pockets, they’re quite shallow and don’t offer much functional storage space. The Rubie’s Charizard is a well-made, eye-catching costume, but oddly, you’ll have to add stuffing to the tail yourself, as it arrives empty. Using newspaper or borrowing stuffing from an old pillow are possible solutions.

We added three widely popular character costumes to the list — Pikachu, Squirtle and Ash — as well as the less common Eevee, which is a comfy, super loose-fitting option that can be used as pajamas for lounging around the house. The Pokémon Hoodie is similar to the Pikachu Hoodie, with a printed-on shell and a cute little face atop the hood to make it resemble the turtle-like creature from the franchise.

Since Halloween can be quite cold in many climates, you may want to look into whether the costume can be worn above regular clothes. We’ve indicated that many of these offer this ability, including the Rubie’s Squirtle, Disguise Classic, and both hoodie costumes.
