All and all, we found this list to be in pretty good shape, but we noticed that the Inateck Pro was no longer available, so we went ahead and removed it from our rankings.
In its place, we added the Pelican HardBack 1095CC, a rugged laptop case that one could argue is a bit overbuilt for this category. However, we judged that it was still worth including on this list, for the benefit of anybody who’s wondering whether a typical soft model will offer them as much protection as they want or need.
While we’re airing out all this option's weaknesses, we should probably also mention that it’s likely too bulky to fit well inside many backpacks and messenger bags, but it’s also worth pointing out that it does come with a shoulder strap, so you do have the option of using it as a standalone unit. It's also significantly smaller than the company’s 1490 model — although the 1490 can admittedly accommodate a 17-inch laptop and offers enough additional utility to outright replace a lot of briefcases.
On the plus side, you can rest easy knowing that your computer will be protected by a solid, crush-resistant vessel with an IP67 dust and water resistance, and, if you’re into the “rugged gear” look, you might find it quite stylish. You can also almost guarantee that it’ll outlast the equipment it’s guarding, and Pelican backs that statement with a limited lifetime warranty.

When choosing the best laptop sleeve, the first thing you'll want to do is carefully compare the dimensions of your device to the interior dimensions of the sleeve you want. You may think of your device as a 15 inch laptop because of its screen size, but the exterior might be a little larger. There is not a standard sizing among makers of laptops or sleeves, and as most users prefer a sleeve with a tight fit, a difference of an inch could be a problem.
We removed the Amazon Basics choice from our list, because it is not up to the quality of some of our other neoprene options, like the Case Logic Laps, or the Mosiso Neo, and we determined the price savings you get from the Amazon Basics isn't worth the difference in durability.
In it's place we added the Thule Gauntlet. This choice provides a rigid clamshell with a surprisingly slim profile. It also opens wide enough to allow you to work without removing your device, making it ideal for airplane travel.
We updated the Pro Case Universal to its latest version and were pleased to see they kept one of its best features, the integrated handle that is lacking in a lot of other sleeves. This new version moves the zipper to the side for extra security.
