Bath spout covers are a great way to lessen the chances of young children injuring themselves when in the tub, but that doesn't make them a substitute for careful adult supervision. As much fun as bath time can be, with the right toys of course, it can also potentially be dangerous if both the child and parent aren't acting responsibly.
Some of the options on our list, such as the Skip Hop Moby, Infantino Cap The Tap, Munchkin Bubble Beak, and The First Years Finding Nemo are cute enough to almost be a toy unto themselves. This is a bit of a double-edged sword, though. On the one side, children will certainly be drawn to them and they can add an element of fun to bath time, helping to keep kids distracted while you wash their hair and scrub their bodies. On the other hand, being so enticing, some children may try and pull them off the spout to play with them, which means they will no longer offer any protection.
If you prefer something that won't be so alluring to your munchkins, so you don't have to worry about them pulling it off the spout, you may want to look at the Oxo Tot Spout, which has a somewhat boring and nondescript appearance. The Toibath Enchanted and Puj Snug are also smart choices, as they do a good job of balancing a charming design, without being so blatant that the average kid will mistake them for being a toy.
We have also found some options that offer a bit more functionality than simply protecting your little ones from the sharp edges of the faucet. For example, the 4moms 2000372 has a built-in thermometer with a color-changing display that makes it easy to tell if you are filling the tub with water that is mild enough so as not to cause discomfort. Another one is the Boon Flo Deflector, which projects the water far away from the spout, so kids won't have to stick their head directly under it when trying to wash out shampoo, an act that all too often leads to a nasty bump. It is great for agitating bubble baths too, to help create a lot of suds. The Munchkin Bubble Beak is also perfect for giving a tot a bubble bath, since its beak doubles as a soap dispenser.
