The 10 Best Bluetooth Speakers For Kids

Updated March 30, 2021 by Luke Mitchell

This wiki has been updated 16 times since it was first published in January of 2020. Bluetooth speakers are all fundamentally quite similar in that they can connect to an external device wirelessly to play music. The models designed for kids are often shaped as cute creatures, modified with colorful lights, or equipped with extra features to make them attractive to children of all ages. We’ve considered both functionality and aesthetic appeal when creating this list. When users buy our independently chosen editorial recommendations, we may earn commissions to help fund the Wiki. Editor's Notes

March 25, 2021:

Kids are becoming increasingly technologically aware, and this is reflected in the growing number of products that are marketed towards tech-savvy youngsters and their guardians. The wireless speakers in our ranking certainly fall into this category and enable children to listen to stories, play music, and even make hands-free calls to their friends via mobile devices. They are all resilient enough to withstand the usual knocks and drops associated with playtime, and they are affordable as compared to their adult-targeted counterparts.

The speakers we selected in this most recent update are fairly diverse and include the Bitty Boomers Star Wars. Riding on the back of the success of The Mandalorian, this series includes many beloved characters from the saga, including Darth Vader and his Stormtroopers, but we chose the Baby Yoda for review, as he became an instant hit with younger generations. This is a good, compact model that excels within its low price range.

The Poeces Portable was chosen as it would make a suitable option for teens and adults as well as younger kids, but it has an effective multicolored lamp that works well as a night light that gently illuminates a child's room. Finally, we selected the Thea Mini as a fun toy that is good to touch as well as view and hear, with its squishy feet and material and plastic construction. This also has good sound quality, can be paired with other models, and has an excellent built-in microphone, making it a good all-around solution.

Most of the items on this list can be considered to be toys or decorations in addition to speakers. They often have bright colors or LEDs, making them stand out to children and adults alike. I made sure to choose products that would be appealing to kids, who presumably enjoy cute-looking creatures like robots or animals. Additionally, all of these items are portable and require minimal setup. Usually users can pair the speaker to their device of choice by pressing a single button. In fact, the iBest Mini Speaker and UD MiaNova will automatically connect to your most recently used device whenever you turn it on after an initial manual pairing.

Portability is extremely important for wireless speakers, as users often travel with them or need to set them up in strange locations. Thus, many of the products I have chosen are extremely lightweight, small, and come with lanyards. However, sound is never sacrificed for portability with these choices, as audio quality and loudness are arguably the most important factors when it comes to speakers. In particular, the Rittle Whale Shark is a very tiny device that could easily fit in one’s pocket, yet offers remarkable sound.

Overall, all of these speakers are similar and affordable. They each have some unique quirks that kids will enjoy and make for a convenient gadget anyone can use to listen to music, play with, or decorate a space.
