Editor's Notes

June 26, 2020:

You won't have to resort to throwing your trash on the floorboard with any of these handy car garbage cans, which come in sizes from large to small that will accommodate everyone from single users to large families. On the bigger end of the size spectrum, we like the High Road StableMate, since it can hold up to 4.5 gallons of stuff. The vinyl liner is a nice touch, as well, that makes cleaning up spills a relatively easy task. But if you find that you often have to mop up wet messes, you might consider the Rubbermaid Hanging, instead. Crafted from hard plastic, it can handle sticky liquids — and you can pop it into the dishwasher when it needs freshening up.

As for models that are on the smaller side, there's the HappyChappy Can, which has a built-in car tissue holder; the Case New Neoprene, a machine-washable choice; and the Yicheyiyou Smart LED, which lights up for convenient nighttime use. After some consideration, we kept the Clean Ridez EZ. It can hold up to two gallons, so it's moderately sized, but it does tend to sag over time. But, like the Drive Auto Products Bin, it can double as a soft cooler, although some might feel squeamish about putting drinks or food into a bag that's been used to carry garbage.
