Editor's Notes

May 26, 2020:

Today we added in a set of bedding with a classic theme that many parents and grandparents will remember fondly. The Disney Winnie The Pooh Classic Storybook depicts scenes of the cheerful bear and his pot of honey, along with his well-known set of friends that include Christopher Robin and Eeyore. You’ll get a 36-by-45-inch comforter, a dust ruffle, two microfiber sheets (featuring different patterns), a changing pad cover, and a soft fleece baby blanket. It’s a good neutral option and durable enough to be handed down from sibling to sibling. Other matching accessories are readily available, such as a sleep sack and a lamp. We also added The Peanut Shell Woodland Trail, which boasts an eye-catching Chevron pattern in several colors that also features silhouettes of animals you’d find in the forest. This one comes with a digital musical mobile that can play 12 songs, as well as a mountain-themed changing pad cover. The fitted sheets are fully elasticized to ensure a tight, safe fit on the mattress. We also kept the Carter’s set in the number one spot, but replaced it with a more readily available theme. The Carter’s Take Flight features a quilt with old-fashioned airplanes and fluffy clouds against a blue sky background. It’s reversible, with the back covered in blue and white stripes. Included are an airplane-themed fitted sheet, a dust ruffle in complementary colors, and a nursery organizer bin that can sit atop a dresser and hold diapers and other essentials.

Dr. Seuss fans will appreciate the Trend Labs Dr. Seuss, which centers around the inspiring classic book "Oh, The Places You'll Go!" It’s got a pleasing color scheme of peach, mint, yellow, and orange, and comes with a matching diaper stacker and changing pad cover. Many little ones come to develop a passion for dinosaurs, so you can get them started early with the Wildkin Dinosaur Land, which boasts an exciting prehistoric theme. It’s got all of the essentials, including a microfiber-lined comforter, a fitted sheet, and a striped dust ruffle. Sold separately are additional accessories, like a matching plush pillow.

For safety’s sake, when using a fitted sheet in your child’s crib, make sure it’s not loose and bunchy; rather, it should fit the mattress tightly like skin. If a quilt came with your bedding set, don’t place it in the crib when your infant is sleeping there. (Quilts actually make for nice wall decor until they can be used as bedding when your child gets older.) The American Academy of Pediatrics advises against infants using a quilt, as well as any other type of blanket, or a flat sheet, stuffed animals, or a bumper pad, as all of these are considered potential suffocation or strangulation hazards. Experts advise the only component that should be in the crib while your baby is in it is a crib mattress that’s outfitted with a tightly fitting sheet. Instead of a blanket, you can use a sleep sack, also known as a wearable blanket, which is worn over a child’s pajamas and provides room for infants to kick their legs. You should check with your pediatrician as to when is a good time to introduce pillows and blankets to the crib of your growing baby.
