The 10 Best Double Leashes

Updated June 25, 2020 by Brett Dvoretz

This wiki has been updated 28 times since it was first published in October of 2016. One dog is a great companion, but two can be a handful when you're out for a walk. These double leashes are specifically designed to enable you to control a couple of canines at the same time with one hand, in a safe and effective manner for both you and your four-legged friends. Each of your pets will have plenty of room, but you will still be able to manage them easily. When users buy our independently chosen editorial selections, we may earn commissions to help fund the Wiki. It also comes in three colors and can be ordered with either solid brass or stainless steel hardware. Editor's Notes

June 22, 2020:

When choosing our double leashes, we prioritized sturdy materials, so even pet owners with enthusiastic pullers could get years of use out of them. We also looked for features that might enhance safety, like bungee materials to absorb shock and details that enhance visibility in low-light conditions.

In the longevity department, the Caldwell's Pet Supply Co Training caught our attention because of its strong nylon/polyester blend that's woven into a tight, chew-resistant rope. The Vaun Duffy Double also got a spot because it has high-quality stitching and reliable hooks and loops, as did the Caldwell's Pet Supply Co Coupler, thanks to its tough alloy ring. The Caldwell's Pet Supply Co Coupler is just an extension, though, and will need to be paired with a full leash. We eliminated the PetBaba Double because its handle is not durable.

Several models offer reflective seams to help passersby better see you and Fido at night, including the Taglory Dual 360 and the Mighty Paw Premium. When it comes to minimizing trips, falls, and similar incidents while walking rambunctious canines, the Peteast DL02, with its shock-absorbing bungee extension, should come in handy. Though the Mighty Paw Bungee has a similar feature, it lost its place because its leads are too close together, and dogs can often bump into each other when attached to them.

There were a couple of other features that stood out as particularly convenient, like the three handles on the Pet Dreamland Waist Coupler that offer control at various points, and the ring on the Pet Artist 2 Way Tangle Free, that's perfect for hanging poop bag holders from.
