The 9 Best Drinking Fountain Faucets

Updated July 20, 2020 by Chris Gillespie

This wiki has been updated 17 times since it was first published in May of 2020. A drinking fountain is an economical and eco-friendly way to provide drinking water in public places, such as schools, gyms, and parks. Not only do they cut down on the plastic waste generated by water bottles, but they can also be conveniently situated at strategic points for use while walking or exercising. We've included models suitable for both commercial and home use. When users buy our independently chosen editorial selections, we may earn commissions to help fund the Wiki. Editor's Notes

July 15, 2020:

Water fountains, or bubblers as they are sometimes known, usually consist of some form of floor or wall mounted basin, with a faucet that directs the water upwards, allowing the user to quench their thirst without needing a glass or a bottle, and without touching their mouth to any unsanitary surfaces. They are also much easier to install, and take up less space, than a water cooler, as they don't require an electric supply.

In this wiki we considered not only dedicated faucets, but also included several attachments that convert a regular bathroom or kitchen faucet into a drinking fountain. The Dreamfarm Tapi and the Jokari JKRI009 are both cost-effective options that simply push on to the spout and are easy to use. They are especially good for children, as they can make brushing teeth and drinking enough water a fun daily activity. Similarly, the Kwik Sip is a permanently affixed device that has a chrome finish so as not to spoil the look of your hardware.

Faucets designed specifically for use on a fountain essentially all perform the same function, that is to direct the stream of water upwards, for ease of drinking, and then shut off automatically after use. There are two main types available: push-button and tap. The Homebester Lead-Free and the Homebester Brushed Gold are identical except for the color of the finish. Both are compact, relatively cheap, and operate with a push-button. The Haws 5017LF is another push button option, however, it is a little larger and can be installed on a countertop, as it has a long inlet shank. If you are thinking of installing a water fountain in a place likely to be used by young children or the elderly then an option with a tap valve, such as the Ez-Flo 10341LF or the Central Brass 0364-L, would be better, as they don't require the same strength or dexterity to turn them on.
