The 10 Best Fire Starters
Editor's Notes
August 21, 2019:
It is hard to know exactly what people are looking for when searching for fire starters, so we wanted to make sure out list included something for everyone. For example, a camper will want something small and easy to transport, like Zip Premium All Purpose, InstaFire Granulated, Midwest Hearth Cedar, and Meeco's Red Devil SureStart. Each of these comes either individually wrapped, or as a compact wrapped unit that can be separated into four individual fire-starting chunks. Lightning Nuggets N100SEB are also very small units, but unfortunately don't come individually wrapped, so you'll need to toss a few into a ziplock bag or some other type of storage container if you want to take them on the go.
Survivalists will be best served by InstaFire Granulated. These handy packets have a three-decade shelf life, can burn while floating on top of water, and will stay lit in the windiest of conditions.
For those looking for an easy-to-start log for their fire place or chiminea, we have included Duraflame Crackleflame, Duraflame Gold, and Pine Mountain Firelogs. These all have a minimum of a two-hour burn time and can serve as your only fuel source for the entirety of a fire. Be aware though, they are not recommended for use when cooking or roasting marshmallows.
EasyGoProducts Fatwood and Better Wood Products Fatwood are essentially little sticks of kindling with a very high resin content that makes them ignite practically instantly when touched with a flame of any kind.
