July 07, 2020:
When updating this list we wanted to balance out the types of options we had, which meant finding a middle ground between glide-on sticks, compacts, and tubes. We also ensured that the items here would work well in conjunction with hunting hats and other camo gear and still match relatively well. We prioritized selections that don't clog pores, smudge easily, stain clothing, drip, or melt. We also looked for a range of hues to suit myriad locations.
We wanted to expand our offerings to incorporate a pressed powder option, which is where the Bobbie Weiner Camouflage comes in. This item is available in a handful of shades at a reasonable price and offers a much cleaner application process that creams do. It's also helpful for setting other paints of similar colors if you plan on being in an extremely harsh environment and don't want to bother with touching yourself up or deal with annoying smudging.
We said goodbye to the Woodland Sticks Kit, which is still a nice choice, but not as convenient as the newly-added Camo-Up Face. Like the Dead Down Wind and HME Three Color, this roll-up stick is very compact, closer to the size of a large chapstick than a deodorant, but since you don't need much to get the job done, this tiny footprint should actually be a convenience. The Camo-Up Face has creamy colors that blend together well and are highly pigmented, but the light green color does look a bit mustard on some skin tones, so take that into account. It's a great budget option for avid hunters.
If you just want solid black, whether to complement other colors or for use on its own, iSplack Eye Black is a good choice, especially if you have sensitive skin. It doesn't incorporate toxins, harsh chemicals, petroleum, parabens, and other irritating ingredients into its formulation and will stay put once it's on, regardless of how much you sweat.
