The 10 Best Learning Toys For Toddlers

Updated January 17, 2019 by Brett Dvoretz

This wiki has been updated 21 times since it was first published in January of 2019. Toddlers are like sponges. They quickly soak up any knowledge they are exposed to, which is why it is so important to give them educational items to play with as early as possible. Learning toys will give your child an edge long before the first day of school. The options on this list can inspire creativity and help little ones develop motor and cognitive skills in a fun and engaging manner. When users buy our independently chosen editorial picks, we may earn commissions to help fund the Wiki. Editor's Notes

January 14, 2019:

No two kids are at the same stage of development, so we wanted to include toys that appeal to a wide range of skill levels. We also felt it important to select items that help children learn basic abilities, like counting, reading, shape matching, and more. Since we realize that kids grow very quickly, we did our best to find options that offer a ton of activities in the hopes that will play with them for a long time.

A wandering writer who spends as much time on the road as in front of a laptop screen, Brett can either be found hacking away furiously at the keyboard or, perhaps, enjoying a whiskey and coke on some exotic beach, sometimes both simultaneously, usually with a four-legged companion by his side. He has been a professional chef, a dog trainer, and a travel correspondent for a well-known Southeast Asian guidebook. He also holds a business degree and has spent more time than he cares to admit in boring office jobs. He has an odd obsession for playing with the latest gadgets and working on motorcycles and old Jeeps. His expertise, honed over years of experience, is in the areas of computers, electronics, travel gear, pet products, and kitchen, office and automotive equipment.
