The 9 Best RV Power Converters

Updated January 16, 2019 by Brett Dvoretz

This wiki has been updated 24 times since it was first published in December of 2018. RV converters take standard 110-volt, AC power and reduce them down to 12-volt DC. This is very important, as the lights, fans, refrigerators, and other electronic devices on recreational vehicles are not designed to function on alternating currents. In addition, they simultaneously charge onboard batteries, so you have plenty of juice even when not plugged in. Editor's Notes

January 13, 2019:

First and foremost, RV power converters should have a number of safety features to prevent overheating, overcharging batteries, damaging electronics from oscillating voltages, and other potential hazards, so we made this a top priority. We also wanted to make sure to include models that can extend battery life by maintaining them at the perfect charge level. After that, we did our best to select units that offer a variety of amperages to suit different power needs.
