Editor's Notes
April 22, 2021:
Once you have chosen your ideal showerhead, you may find that it is too big to connect to the outlet or it may sit at the wrong angle or height. That's where one of these versatile extension arms comes in. They are available in a variety of shapes and sizes, and are often adjustable for different users. They also come in a range of designs for modern contemporary and traditional bathrooms, and in a choice of metallic finishes for matching with your faucets and accessories.
During this update, we replaced a number of items to make the ranking more comprehensive. The Brizo Litze and the Vida Alegria Reach were removed due to availability issues. In their place, we added the Plumb Pak Keeney Stylewise, which is notable due to its flexible arm that allows the showerhead to be positioned at any angle without the need for adjustment screws. It has a 12-inch reach and is available in either a brushed nickel or polished chrome finish. However, since it doesn't lock in place, heavy showerheads may cause it to lose position. The Trustme High Arc was also included as a modern option with contemporary styling. It provides 10 inches of additional height and 12 inches of reach and can accept up to a 16-inch square showerhead. If you want to match an extension arm with your other accessories, the Delta Addison is available in a range of finishes including champagne bronze and Venetian bronze, and the NearMoon Rainfall comes in nickel, chrome, or an attractive matte black, and includes either an 8,10 or 12-inch rainfall showerhead.

Because it offers better variety, coming as it does in several sizes and finishes, the NearMoon Rainfall takes the place of the HealthyLifeStyle Luxury at this time. The NearMoon choice is an adjustable arm and rainfall head combo; it has no built-in restrictor, which allows it to offer a comfortable experience — although not exactly an eco-friendly one. But if you already have a shower head you wish to continue using, we think the ever-popular Moen Waterhill remains a great option. It's a cinch to install, and its flange is more attractive than the flange found on many other models. The Delta Addison remains a fine alternative, and we have added the Brizo Litze as a top option, as well. This model doesn't come cheap, but it pairs wide adjustability with an eye-catching, durable gold finish, for a model that is both useful and attractive. At the other end of the price and simplicity spectrum, we kept the G-Promise Extender. You can't adjust it all that much, but at the very least, it helps move your shower head away from the wall.

We looked at many styles of shower arm extensions that will fit most shower set ups, but variations do occur, so be sure to take time to examine the provided measurements before making a choice. That said, we think the Moen Waterhill and Delta Addison are both top options for many users. Neither is particularly tough to install, and they're both stylish but not overly noticeable or garish. The Moen is the more expensive of the two, which is understandable, given the brand's durability and longevity. For those who want something straight, rather than curved, we kept the Aqua Elegante and added the G-Promise Extender. The former lives up to its name and is indeed elegant, but you may need to re-tighten and adjust it from time to time. The latter is for bringing your shower head closer to the user and is one of the simplest options you'll find. Finally, we decided to remove the HotelSpa 1116. It has a design quirk that makes it too easy to install at weird angles, leaving many users frustrated. For an alternative, consider the Sprite Flexible Chrome, which arrives with shower head included.
