While having a safe you can't access might keep your belongings secure, it can be a serious headache if you require one of the documents inside. It can even sometimes mean the difference between life and death if it contains a firearm you have immediate needs of for self defense. It is for exactly this reason that we eliminated the Barska Quick Access Biometric, which has received too many complaints regarding the effectiveness of its fingerprint scanner. Surprisingly though, the Barska AX12038, which is a new addition to our list, has none of those issues and is actually touted for how quickly and reliably its biometric scanner works. We also replaced the Homak Between The Studs High Security, which gets mediocre reviews from users for a variety of reasons ranging from low-quality hinges to weak bolts.

Though technology is designed to make our lives easier, we realize that not everybody wants a digital keypad or fancy biometric fingerprint reader on their safe. To suit those individuals, we included the Stack-On IWC-11, which offers basic keyed access, and the V-Line Quick Vault 41214-S, which has a mechanical keypad, so there are no electronics to potentially fail.
