The 10 Best Wobble Chairs

Updated September 10, 2020 by Brett Dvoretz

This wiki has been updated 20 times since it was first published in January of 2019. If you spend a lot of time sitting at a desk, you might want to turn that passive activity into an active one with a wobble chair. These stools let you rock, lean, and swivel in any direction, flexing your legs and core muscles as you sit. They're great for kids, too, and cant help energetic youngsters focus during class, because they give antsy bodies something to do. When users buy our independently chosen editorial picks, we may earn commissions to help fund the Wiki. Vari Active Seat Basic While at first glance the Vari Active Seat Basic looks like a sleek but ordinary stool, it actually has an articulating pedestal that allows for a range of motion. Its air-lift piston height-adjustment system lets you set it to a comfortable seated or standing position, and most will find its cushioned seat to be comfortable. vari.com

Editor's Notes

September 04, 2020:

In selecting our wobble chairs, we looked for models for both adults and children, as individuals of all age groups could use the help getting out that extra energy at the desk - whether in an office or a classroom. Stability was also important since, without it, the entire purpose of these items would be defeated.

We liked that the ECR4Kids Active Core Engagement and the Kore Classroom have anti-tip designs, so they should remain upright, even when rowdy gets get ahold of them. The Giantex Active Balance Stool and the Storex Wiggle Stool both have grippy materials on their bases, to keep them stable, so we included those. We removed the Comfify Active Kids during this update as it does not feel very sturdy.

Adults looking for something to improve posture and allow for a little activity at their workspace may like the Uncaged Ergonomics WSR and the Kore KD-1509, because they both have sophisticated aesthetics, and can work with standing desks. While the Ergonomic Swivel Stool also had a professional look, we eliminated it during this update because its materials proved to be fragile.

Those who may want to use their wobble stool either at a low desk or a standing one might like the Learniture Active Learning Stool and the Giantex Saddle Perch, both of which have adjustable heights. While the Learniture LNT-3046 isn't height adjustable, it is available in several sizes, making it a good pick for teachers or parents overseeing children of various ages.

Wobble chairs come in a wide range of styles and colors so you should be able to find one that meets your needs. Our selections cover the gamut with some options designed for kids and some for adults. We like the adjustable models for adults and looked for non-slip and stable properties in the kids' stools.
