This wiki has been updated 16 times since it was first published in March of 2020. Whether you are cooking a delicious meal or serving one, having the appropriate utensils makes everything easier, and a wooden spoon is one kitchen essential you do not want to be without. It has many qualities you will not find in its metal counterparts, such as staying cool to the touch and keeping a pot from boiling over, so we have rounded up a good selection to help you choose the right ones. When users buy our independently chosen editorial selections, we may earn commissions to help fund the Wiki. Editor's Notes

May 05, 2021:

In this update, we removed the Vremi Kitchen because its silicone handles detract from the natural wood look and, unlike silicone handles on metal utensils, don't serve a practical purpose. The Ecosall Healthy Cooking was removed because the pieces had a tendency to splinter and the Neet Organic Serving was removed because its rough surface wasn't comfortable in the hand. The Mondayou Cooking was removed because it was nearly identical to the Nayahose Set, so it didn't seem useful to have both on the list.

New to the list, the Jonathan's Family Lazy has a notch in the handle that allows it to rest on the edge of a pot. In addition to this clever innovation, it's also an all-around high-quality utensil, made from cherry wood, sanded smooth, and finished with food-grade mineral oil.

We also added two options that are designed for scraping: the Le Creuset Revolution and the Faay Corner. The former is almost a spoon-spatula hybrid, with a thin, flat edge at the tip that can be helpful for sautéeing or stirring sauces. The Faay Corner has a purposefully asymmetrical shape that allows you to use different edges for different purposes, with a rounded point on one side that's great for getting into the corners of pots and pans.

The Island Bamboo Pakkawood isn't as sturdy as other options on the list, but it makes up for its tendency to chip by having a striking aesthetic design, with eye-catching patterns available in both natural and bright artificial colorways.

Finally, we added the KitchenAid Universal at the bottom of the list. If you're looking for something simple and affordable and don't need the extra pieces included in a set, this one is a solid choice.

There are various benefits to using wooden utensils instead of metal ones when preparing food. Wooden spoons are resistant to heat, they are made of different types of wood, such as bamboo, that make them environmentally-friendly. They are also appealing to the eye because of the different shades and grains of wood used.

The Vremi Kitchen Set is made from bamboo, and each utensil has a hole for hanging from a rack or even on the wall. The colorful handles set this set apart from others while providing a bright pop of color for any kitchen. The Mondayou Cooking utensils are crafted from teak, which is naturally resistant to bacteria, and also giving this collection an elegant, rich pattern. The Bicb Beechwood set includes 12-inch handles for reaching into the deepest of pots, while boasting construction from some of the sturdiest wood available.

If you are not sold on the advantages of wooden utensils, our rankings for the best cooking utensils might help you decide, and whether you decide on wood or metal, you still need a utensil holder to keep everything organized.
