The 10 Best Yoga Blocks
Editor's Notes
June 23, 2020:
These yoga mats are a great way to complement your practice, as they’ll help you reach the floor successfully during a variety of challenging poses, and they’ll help you improve your flexibility in the process. In today’s update, we rounded out the selection by adding some unique models to the list. For instance, the Bhoga Infinity feature hollow insides, so you can grip them by wrapping your hands around them, which some yogis swear helps immensely with downward and upward dog poses. Others use them regularly to assist with backbends, thanks to their contoured shape that helps support the spine. We also added the Syntus Set which, in addition to blocks, brings you a flexibility strap as well as a set of exercise bands. If you’re a beginner, all you’ll need in addition is a yoga mat. This set replaces the Levoit Strength & Flexibility, another all-inclusive set that has been discontinued. For a well-rounded choice in a bright color that no one will mistakenly take for their own, look to the newly added Gaiam 61783, which is available in a tri-tone design of purple, pink, and black, and which is also sold in single colors like black, green, or blue. It’s from a popular name in yoga products and provides comfortable beveled edges.
If you’re interested in a set of wedges, check out the StrongTek Wedges, which let your limbs, knees, pelvis contact the ground at a softer angle than otherwise. They can make for a much more comfortable practice and improve your flexibility in the process. They’re also well suited for planks, squats, pushups, and more. Today we replaced a lesser known cork model with the well-regarded Manduka Cork, which is super strong and solid, to add stability to various poses. Its large size makes it good for sitting on comfortably when you do things like forward bends or meditation. From the same company is the Manduka UnBlok, which boasts a unique rounded shape that allows it to assist with back bends and provide a natural position for your wrists during other poses. You may wish to use two, however, so note that it only comes with a single component. As a rule, be sure to check with your doctor before starting any new workout regimen to make sure it’s safe and effective for you.
