5 Caring Organizations Dedicated To Helping Animals
Animals are sentient beings that deserve to be treated with love and respect. Unfortunately, cases of abuse and neglect are still prevalent. To ensure the welfare of animals, the organizations listed here, in no particular order, work tirelessly to protect creatures ranging from dogs and cats to horses and birds.
For #1, we have Equine Voices Rescue & Sanctuary. The organization, which is based in Arizona, is focused on sheltering horses and burros that were rescued from neglect, abuse, abandonment, and slaughter. It provides a safe place for the animals through its facility at the Jumpin' Jack Ranch.
Members of the public can support the group by participating in its various programs. Through these initiatives, individuals can choose to adopt or sponsor a horse. Equine Voices also has volunteer projects for those looking to help at its headquarters.
Next up at #2 is the World Bird Sanctuary. Founded in 1977 by Vietnam veteran Walter Crawford, the group is dedicated to preserving the world's biological diversity and securing the future of threatened bird species. It provides refuge and emergency care for hundreds of animals a year at its facility in Missouri.
Through donations given by private businesses and individuals, WBS is able to conduct its daily operations and carry out projects that are available to the public. Some of these include book reading sessions, eagle flight activities, adoption initiatives, and volunteer programs.
For #3, we have the New York State Animal Protection Federation, which represents local shelters, humane societies, and welfare organizations. It was established in 2010 to safeguard the well-being of animals within the state through legislative and policy initiatives.
The federation supports its partners and affiliates by holding fundraisers and adoption programs. Additionally, the group spreads awareness by participating in conferences and public forums.
Coming in at #4 is the Humane Society of Louisiana. This private protection charity, which is based in New Orleans, was founded in 1988. With the help of volunteers and support from the community, it urges wildlife officials and shelters to adopt non-violent alternatives when it comes to dealing with animals.
In addition to advocating a no-kill philosophy, the society also offers stall sponsorships for horses. Furthermore, it conducts relief operations in areas affected by disasters. As a licensed detective agency, the organization also works with local authorities to rescue animals from abusive environments.
Finally, at #5, we have Eastwood Ranch Foundation. Actress and director Alison Eastwood co-founded the organization in 2012 along with her long-time friend and fellow animal advocate Maissa Dauriac. The group aims to save cats and dogs from high kill shelters in Southern California and nearby regions.
The foundation uses campaigns and its social media presence to encourage adoptions and promote spay and neuter programs, in order to help secure the well-being of animals and reduce overpopulation in shelters. The group also provides educational resources for pet owners.
