5 Hardworking Groups Working To Protect Children

Due to their age and size, kids are some of the most vulnerable members of society. Family members, friends, and the larger community all play a significant role in protecting our smallest citizens. In no particular order, here are a few groups committed to safeguarding children's rights and welfare.

For #1, we have Tennessee CASA. It supports local programs and agencies that are designed to train volunteers to become court-appointed special advocates. These people attend juvenile trials to represent kids who have been abused or neglected.

Through the organization's assistance, CASA volunteers carry out their investigations by reviewing all the necessary documents related to a child's case. Using their findings, they help the court make a sound decision about their client's future. The group's goal is to look out for children's best interest by working to find them safe and permanent homes.

Coming in at #2 is Child Crisis Arizona. Its corporate headquarters and early education center are located in Mesa. Dedicated to helping the state's most vulnerable children, the group's mission is to provide youth in Arizona a safe environment, free from abuse and neglect, by creating strong and successful families.

Through donations from the community, Child Crisis Arizona is able to launch various initiatives that are focused on supporting kids and their parents. Some of these include facilitating family workshops, operating an emergency shelter, and providing counseling services. In addition, the organization manages an adoption program.

Next up at #3 is Family Services of Westchester. Located in New York state, it was founded in 1954 by Irwin Stein and Marjorie Dammann. This non-profit private agency offers mental health and social services to people at every stage of their lives.

FSW assists teens and children through its numerous projects, such as foster care and adoption programs. Through these initiatives, young people who cannot stay with their birth parents for various reasons are given an opportunity to reside in more stable and secure homes. The organization also operates youth residences, which provide housing and educational support for adolescents in crisis.

Our #4 is Connecticut Voices for Children. Based in New Haven, the group collects research-based data and produces reports on various social factors that affect the welfare of kids within the state. It uses the information it collects to advocate for policies and campaigns, which target issues related to health, education, employment, housing opportunities, and the criminal justice system.

One of the organization's priorities is economic security. Connecticut Voices for Children believes that a family's financial condition and capability can affect a child's growth and development. The group addresses this by releasing publications aimed at helping workers earn a living wage, creating state-wide systems that promote caregiving environments, and pushing for a more equitable public education policy.

Lastly, at #5, we have the Alliance for Children's Rights. Since 1992, it has been supporting vulnerable youth who are affected by the foster care system. Through its team of social workers, lawyers, and other professionals, the firm offers free legal services to help kids, teens, and young adults obtain more stable lives.

The organization assists its clients to find new families and homes by representing them during adoption hearings and filing legal documents on their behalf. The Alliance for Children's Rights also guides caregivers in completing the requirements to become court-appointed guardians.
