December 22, 2020:
We like the productivity focus of the Philips Brilliance P7, which even has an Ethernet connector as part of its integrated hub. It, and the Philips 278E1A, are about as well-priced as any 4K monitors out there. Gamers should consider the Lg Ultragear GL850 or Asus Tuf VG27AQ, unless they're okay with a merely HD resolution, in which case the BenQ Mobiuz EX2710 or Asus Tuf VG279QM would work. You don't have to spend much, though, for something good, as evidenced by the Acer KB272HL and Dell S2721HS.

It's probably now the most popular size, so there are tons and tons to choose from... pros should should look at an LG or BenQ, gamers really ought to consider an Acer or if they can afford it, an ASUS ROG display. They're killer, but cost an arm and a leg, and over the coming months of graphics card upgrades we'll see which are the most reliable. Until then, it may be wise to save a bit on a monitor and invest in one of the new Radeon GPUs or a 10-series Geforce (pro tip: most people should avoid the RTX series until the next generation of cards and AAA titles). For general use, the Dell and the HP Z27 are two of the best and most popular all-around options.
