For a lot of users, 55 inches is plenty big enough for a TV. Options in this size are also considerably less expensive than larger models. If you're especially concerned about your budget, the Hisense H6570G is about as cheap as they get, and though it's not great, it will satisfy viewers who aren't terribly picky. It's also a good choice for console gamers due to low motion blur and input lag. For just a bit more, you can pick u pthe Samsung TU-8000 and TCL S425, which still lack most high-end features but are surprisingly good looking for the money.

Those willing to spend slightly more will be interested in three of our selections in particular. The Samsung Q60R is one of last year's mid-range QLED models and is actually superior in most ways to this year's Q60T. The TCL R625 comes from a popular manufacturer that's known for good prices and even better streaming capability, and it's the first of their TVs to offer both local dimming and quantum dot filtration. The Vizio M558-G1, meanwhile, offers both of those things as well as above-average peak brightness, and costs even less than the TCL.

If affordability is not a main issue, though, there are some high-end options you should really consider. The Samsung Frame mounts using a svelte no-gap setup and is meant to enhance the look and feel of your space even when it's not in use. The Samsung Q80T includes a variety of powerful components, and the Sony X950H boasts some of the company's top full-array local dimming technology as well as particularly accurate factory calibration that gets even better once you adjust it at home. Then there's the LG CX, which many experts agree is the best-looking and most future-proof model on the market right now. It's hard to overstate just how good this particular TV looks, and in fact it's often placed above some ultra-premium Sony OLED models that cost considerably more.

The OLED offerings in this category are easily among the best TVs on the market right now, though Samsung's QLED model rivals them in color performance if not black depth. Samsung's Frame model also gained a spot due to its unique design and features.
