For compressed air applications, you should look for hoses and compressors that come with national pipe thread (NPT) fittings with tapered threads as these greatly outperform straight thread fittings. What Is Compressed Air And How Does It Work?

In essence, when you refer to air as compressed, you’re simply indicating that the air is being kept at a pressure level that is greater than atmospheric pressure.
