Updated November 18, 2018 by Brett Dvoretz

This wiki has been updated 20 times since it was first published in November of 2018. Any farmer can tell you that properly tilling the land before planting your seeds results in healthier, faster growing plants. Whether you are just preparing your soil for new grass, a large flower bed, or a vegetable garden, one of these tow-behind cultivators will make your job easier. All of them are sturdy enough to shrug off the occasional encounter with hidden rocks. When users buy our independently chosen editorial picks, we may earn commissions to help fund the Wiki. Editor's Notes

November 15, 2018:

In order for cultivators to be effective, they must be able to effectively cut into soil for proper aeration and be able to rip up unwanted weeds, all while staying relatively free from damage so they can be used season after season. Because of this, our main focus was finding models with sturdy tines that could stand up to a lot of use.

A wandering writer who spends as much time on the road as in front of a laptop screen, Brett can either be found hacking away furiously at the keyboard or, perhaps, enjoying a whiskey and coke on some exotic beach, sometimes both simultaneously, usually with a four-legged companion by his side. He has been a professional chef, a dog trainer, and a travel correspondent for a well-known Southeast Asian guidebook. He also holds a business degree and has spent more time than he cares to admit in boring office jobs. He has an odd obsession for playing with the latest gadgets and working on motorcycles and old Jeeps. His expertise, honed over years of experience, is in the areas of computers, electronics, travel gear, pet products, and kitchen, office and automotive equipment.
