This wiki has been updated 10 times since it was first published in July of 2020. Anyone with an above-ground or traditional swimming pool will be used to the daily chore of using a net and a brush to rid their pool of leaves, dirt, and the detritus that builds up so quickly without constant attention. These automatic pool skimmers will save you time and effort by keeping your pool ready for when the sun comes out and, in some cases, reducing the load on your pump and filter. When users buy our independently chosen editorial selections, we may earn commissions to help fund the Wiki.

Editor's Notes

September 17, 2020:

Many above and below-ground outside pool owners will attest to the fact that their aquatic investment is never ready to use on the day that they want to use it. The constant servicing and caring for your pool can be a time-consuming and labor-intensive chore that needs daily attention. Although a robotic pool cleaner that runs along the floor hoovering up the daily debris that sinks to the floor is an important addition, anything is better than spending hours with a net before you and the kids can go swimming.

The Instapark Betta may seem overpriced compared to the other choices on our list, but the battery and solar power allow for long run times in perfect conditions. It is the most complicated and priciest skimmer on the list, but all of these skimmers are certainly cheaper than employing a cleaning service.

The Dunnrite Hydro-Net will appeal to kids of all ages and while not automatic, will perform the task without recourse to a hand net. The Skimmermotion Clarifier is the only model here that requires a hose connecting it to your robotic vacuum unit. It will do the job in hand, requires very little assembly, and offers a quick and reasonably priced solution compared to the solar-powered skimmers like the Solar-Breeze NX2 which is truly autonomous and better constructed, although this is reflected in the price.

Special Honors
