The 10 Best Baby Nail Clippers

Updated June 17, 2020 by Brett Dvoretz

This wiki has been updated 17 times since it was first published in March of 2018. A standard manicure set is going to be too large for your newborn or infant, so if you have a little bundle of joy on your hands, take a look at these baby nail clippers. They are specifically designed and sized for tiny digits with a wide array of safety features that lower the risk of accidentally cutting the skin. We've selected a variety of models based on value, quality, and ease of use. When users buy our independently chosen editorial picks, we may earn commissions to help fund the Wiki. Editor's Notes

June 14, 2020:

Trimming a baby's nails can be intimidating for anyone, but especially new parents. Nobody wants to inadvertently hurt their child, so the thought of accidentally cutting some skin and causing pain or bleeding is enough to give most people pause. Luckily, there are dedicated clippers for babies and toddlers that help reduce the chances of this happening, and make what is often a stressful experience much more palatable.

While the concept of how most baby clippers work is essentially the same as how adult models function, there are some noticeable differences in design. Since they are sized for tiny digits, manufacturers often add additional bulk to the body to make them easier to hold. This can be seen in options like the FridaBaby NailFrida, Arrnew 4-in-1 Grooming Kit, Safety 1st Steady Grip, The First Years American Red Cross Deluxe Y7064A, Rhoost NCPL148, and Safety 1st Clear View. All of these feature an oversized grip of some kind that makes it easier for adults to work with them. In the case of the Safety 1st Steady Grip and The First Years American Red Cross Deluxe Y7064A, they both feature a bulbous handhold with a rubberized grip for slip resistance. The Rhoost NCPL148 makes use of a natural bamboo material and silicone thumb piece.

We like that the FridaBaby NailFrida and Arrnew 4-in-1 Grooming Kit come with files, since infant nails are often soft enough that you can simply file them down without always having to resort to clipping. The Arrnew is also a good value, coming with four grooming tools and a cute bear-shaped storage case, and the NailFrida is designed with a smart spy hole that makes it easy to see the cut line.

For those who just aren't ready to take the chance with clippers, we have included some powered, rotary nail files, specifically the Little Martin's Drawer BNT1606 and ZoLi Buzz B. We highly recommend the former over the latter, as it is more powerful, better made, and includes more heads. Additionally, it features an integrated LED to illuminate the nail.
