The 10 Best Barbershop Chairs

Updated September 09, 2020 by Brett Dvoretz

This wiki has been updated 19 times since it was first published in December of 2018. Among the first things people notice when they walk into a barbershop are the chairs, which can set the tone for how your salon will be perceived. In addition to being aesthetically pleasing, it is just as important for them to be comfortable for both the client and the stylist. We've included a wide variety of models to suit most budgets and aesthetic preferences, all of which adjust easily. When users buy our independently chosen editorial choices, we may earn commissions to help fund the Wiki. Icarus Carter The Icarus Carter blends retro aesthetic with modern features. It features smooth hydraulics; a large, well-placed recline lever, an attractive chrome finish. The wide base, on which it swivels a full 360 degrees, keeps it nice and stable at all times. salonguys.com

Pibbs 662 King Available with 40 upholstery colors, the Pibbs 662 King should be easy to match to the rest of your shops decor, as long as its antique style also works with the ambiance you are cultivating. It is equipped with a kick-out upholstered calf pad and footrest and an adjustable headrest, however, its 19-inch seat width may be tight for some clients. brightbarbers.com

Editor's Notes

September 01, 2020:

Perhaps the second most important thing in a hair salon to high-quality shears, chairs go a long way towards setting the tone of any barbershop. Because of this, you'll want to make sure they match the ambiance you are trying to cultivate. For example, while the D Salon Executive Allure would look very out of place in a trendy men's shop, it would be perfect a fashionista's beauty parlor. Conversely, the BarberPub 3825 might not mesh well with the decor of the latter, but would be perfect for a hipster barbershop in downtown LA or New York city. The Dir Vanquish is ideal for those looking to bring some old world charm into their shop, as is the Berkeley Rowling with its vintage style and button tufting, while the Merax Salon Recliner is going to bring a more modern aesthetic.

We like the versatility of the Skin Act Theo, which is a premium option with hand-stitched upholstery. Because it is somewhat plain, it works well in a variety of shops, yet it still shows you care about the overall aesthetics of your hair salon and the comfort of your clients.

The FlagBeauty Black is a simple, budget-friendly option akin to what you might find in your local Supercuts. It could be a good choice for someone just starting out without a lot of cash to spend, though it is lacking a headrest, which can be problematic if you offer shave services.

December 19, 2018:

We focused on both style and functionality when choosing the best barbershop chairs. Ideally, we wanted to find models that were long lasting, so they wouldn't have to be replaced too often, and comfortable, so there would be less chance of a client squirming around while you work. We also thought it prudent to include options to suit every type of budget.
