This wiki has been updated 27 times since it was first published in July of 2016. If you have an oversized thirst and are looking for the perfect container to keep your beverages hot or cold when you're camping, hiking, or working, you've come to the right place. These big thermoses provide impressively large capacities and top-notch insulation that will prevent you from drinking tepid coffee or room temperature water. Some are equally good for foods like soups and stews, too. When users buy our independently chosen editorial selections, we may earn commissions to help fund the Wiki. Stanley Adventure Crock The large capacity and ruggedness of the Stanley Adventure Crock make it perfect for camping, although you could certainly select it for day-to-day use if you need to carry an ample amount of potato salad, soup, or other foodstuffs. It could even work as an ice bucket. stanley-pmi.com

Editor's Notes

July 29, 2020:

There is not better way to transport a large amount of a hot or cold liquid than one of these big thermoses. Every option on this list is available in at least a 64-ounce capacity, and many can hold as much as one gallon.

Except for the Under Armour MVP, Igloo Proformance, and Thermos Hydration Bottle, every other model is suitable for hot beverages. That being said, we still felt these were worthy of their spots for various reasons. All three feature handy flip-top caps that make them easy to take a quick swig from without having to unscrew anything, and both the Under Armour MVP and Igloo Proformance are equipped with hooks for hanging them on a chain link fence. Plus, the Igloo Proformance and Thermos Hydration Bottle are quite reasonably priced. Unfortunately, we had to remove the Coleman 1-Gallon Jug, which was another wallet-friendly offering, due to reports of it leaking if tipped on its side.

If you want the ability to lug around a gallon of liquid, there are no better selections than the Hydro Flask Oasis and Yeti Rambler Gallon. Both of these can keep beverages cold for up to 24 hours, or hot for up to 12, and have very sturdy builds that can stand up to a few dings and drops with no loss of insulative properties. We do, of course, realize that these are rather pricey, so if you don't need such a large capacity, you may be better off saving a bit of money and opting for the Thermos Stainless King 68-Ounce, Stanley Classic Growler Set, Tiger MHK-A200-XC, or Aquatix Double Wall instead. The first three all include a cup of some kind, and, in the case of the Stanley Classic Growler Set, four of them. Rather than including a cup, the Aquatix Double Wall is designed for users to drink directly from it and has a handy flip-top cap covering the spout.

If looking for a way to transport a meal like pasta, chili, or soup, instead of reaching for a plastic food container, you may want to consider the Simple Modern Provision. It has a large opening that makes it easy to eat directly from it, and will eliminate the need for you to heat up your lunch in the dirty office microwave.

July 16, 2019:

At this time, we still like the Thermos Stainless King 68-Ounce as a fine option for many, since it's versatile thanks to classic styling that moves easily from the campsite to the office. And because the lid doubles as a cup, there are no usage hassles. We've also added the Hydro Flask Oasis as a top choice; it offers the robust construction that fans of the brand are familiar with, in a large-capacity vessel for either hot or cold drinks. We like the thoughtful design of the lid, as well, which opens two ways to make pouring and cleaning simple.

As for sportier options, we still think the Aquatix Double Wall Insulated is a good choice, and we've opted to add the budget-friendly Igloo Proformance, too. They'll keep you hydrated through long practices or gym sessions, when a standard water bottle just won't do. The Igloo model has nifty chain link hooks in the handle as well as a rubberized grip, both nice touches.
