September 03, 2020:
Everyone remembers their childhood dolls and stuffed animals. Whether you enjoyed moving things about in the doll's house, having tea parties, combing their hair, or making dinner together, these little friends always deserved the best you could provide them. That's why we've chosen items that help to create realistic environments, so that kid's make-believe play will be as lifelike as possible. However, we understand that kitting out a bedroom for a doll, and purchasing all the accessories, can sometimes cost as much as buying things for your actual son or daughter, so we've tried to include options to fit a range of budgets.
The Badger Basket Scrollwork and the Badger Basket Gingham are at the lower end of the price range. Produced by the same company, these are both well-made sets and are likely to last a good few years, however, they lack the detail that more expensive selections will provide. For example, the former doesn't have any padding where the mattress should be, but kids can tuck their babies in under the blankets. Whereas the latter is pretty much the opposite, it has nice padded mattresses but doesn't come with any sheets.
If you're willing to spend a bit to furnish your doll's area, then the Playtime by Eimmie Bedroom is a great high-quality pick. Not only does it have all the usual things like bedding and pillows, but it also comes with cute accessories such as a lamp, a laptop, books, a magazine, and a mini bag. It's worth noting that although there is a trundle bed under the bottom bunk, this doesn't contain a mattress.
Emily Rose scored highly on our list twice, with the Emily Rose Double and the Emily Rose Triple. Both are durable constructions that should hold up well to hours of play, and come in at a reasonable price. We liked the Melissa and Doug 31721 due to its sturdiness and gender-neutral colors. It's also useful that it's light enough for kids to pick up and move around effortlessly, so that they can carry on with their playtime without disturbing adults to help them.
If you're thinking that two or three beds seem a bit much, perhaps consider a single doll's crib, some of which are portable enough to travel with.
