This wiki has been updated 11 times since it was first published in April of 2020. Cat window perches use various methods to suspend a range of cozy beds and hammocks from glass or sills so that your feline companion can enjoy a view of the outside world. Unfortunately, not every model is made to the same quality standards as you might expect, so we’ve sifted through a range of listings to find some of the best choices available on the market today. When users buy our independently chosen editorial choices, we may earn commissions to help fund the Wiki. The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine Indoor Pet Initiative If you're perusing cat window perches, there's a very strong chance that you've got an indoor cat and you're concerned about its well being. Scientists know a lot about cats at this point, and this website is an excellent repository of useful information about keeping your indoor cat and other pets happy. indoorpet.osu.edu

Meowingtons Not every window perch comes with a pad, pillow, or blanket, but we definitely suggest you get one for your cat's new bed since felines aren't too different from humans when it comes down to it, and no one likes sleeping on a bare mattress void of bedding. While you could just compromise on something affordable and functional, you might want to head over to this website where they print cats' images onto blankets and pillows. meowingtons.com

Editor's Notes

April 09, 2020:

Cats are about the only pets you would want to offer a window perch to given their nine lives, fast reflexes, and penchant for usually landing on their feet. No matter how you cut it, there’s going to be some risk involved when suspending a bed from a window with suction cups. Whether the cups lose form and become less functional over time, or your cat is like mine and rolls around a little too liberally and ends up spilling out of their perch, something is likely to eventually happen.

However, just as with my cat, your cat will absolutely love their window perch and should be fine as long as you make sure nothing sharp or dangerous is waiting underneath this potential trapdoor. Furthermore, if you live in an older building or any other sort of arrangement that has thinner windows, think twice about whether a window perch that depends on suction cups is right for you, because windows can break, and the sharp shards of glass that fall from them can harm, maim, and kill. Finally, follow any instructions or guidelines that come with whatever model you choose, use your best judgement, and practice common sense when choosing and setting up your window perch. This is not at all an exhaustive list of the things that could go wrong if you don’t remain vigilant.

Moving on, keep in mind that a window perch will effectively block curtains and blinds when mulling over which one is right for you. Models such as the K&H Pet Products EZ Mount and LsaiFater All Around have hinged connections to suction cups, making them easier to fold down and leave in place when it’s time to shutter windows, while the K&H Pet Products Hammock rests at sill level and therefore won’t get in the way to begin with.
