When buying boxed chocolates, it's important to keep the recipient's taste in mind. Have you observed them eating white, milk, or dark chocolate? If not, ask someone close to them to give you a list of their favorites, and purchase accordingly. Some people like to try new flavors, so any of the selections on this list is a safe bet. Whatever the choice, you need to time the purchase just right. Part of making a great presentation is having the gift delivered (whether in person or by mail) on the recipient's special day.
Unfortunately, some brands had a few complaints about the contents of the gift box melting. Even Fannie May Pixies received criticism, and the company packs the candy with ice inside a styrofoam cooler. Also, the outside of the box is marked perishable in bold print. But for reasons that will be discussed shortly, a package may arrive with melted chocolates inside. That is true whether the chocolate ships from a third party seller or directly from a chocolatier such as Golden State Fruit Love Berries.
The best time to order chocolate is between Monday and Thursday. If you order on a Friday, the company may make the candy, pack it, and ship it. But if the shipment is not marked priority, the freight company may let it sit in a hot warehouse or truck for a couple of days, if the carrier doesn't deliver on weekends. The good news is that most chocolate gift boxes received high marks for taste. Just remember to check 'This is a gift' at checkout and write a note to the recipient if the option is available.
