The 10 Best Corner Kitchen Nooks
Editor's Notes
June 08, 2020:
Modern kitchens often feature a dining area, however, seating the whole family in it, or indeed entertaining guests, can be a challenge, as most compact dining furniture can only accommodate two to four people. A kitchen nook is a great way to make the most out of a confined area, as they are comprised of corner seating units and benches. They are available in a range of designs from modern to traditional, and with either a painted or natural wood finish that is sure to complement your existing furniture.
If you already have a dining table and simply want to add some bench-style corner units, the Linon Troyin and the Linon Chelsea are both stand-alone options that are made from pine with either a light, dark or painted finish. Full sets, such as the Linon Shipley, the Linon Ardmore, and the Riverbay Furniture include the table, additional bench seating, and are also made of pine. While pine is a sustainable material, and a good choice for furniture, it isn't as durable as other types of wood and scratches easily. A more robust choice would be the German Furniture Warehouse Landau, made from waxed Austrian spruce, or the Safavieh Wilton Balcony which is made from solid acacia, has the benefit of being naturally weatherproof, and could be used as an outdoor set. The largest we considered for this ranking is the BaySide Breakfast Nook, which can comfortably seat eight people, is made from hand-sawn New Zealand pine, and has a modern pre-distressed finish. Conversely, the Meble Furniture 5-Piece is a compact option that has upholstered stools but is good for four people only.
