The 10 Best Dual Sport Helmets
This wiki has been updated 19 times since it was first published in April of 2018. Motorcycle riders who like to spend as much time off-road as they do cruising through cities and along highways will be interested in these dual sport helmets. They offer plenty of comfort, ventilation, and protection, but they also have a wider front opening than standard models, which allows them to accommodate goggles and give you a bigger, better view of the road -- or trail -- ahead. Editor's Notes
June 25, 2019:
When it comes to motorcycle helmets, whether they be road or adventure, there are a few companies that unarguably offer the best quality. These include Arai, Shoei, and Klim Krios. You'll see each of these brands represented here in the Arai XD4, Klim Krios Karbon, and Shoei Hornet X2. That doesn't mean however that you won't find great options from other companies too. For example, Suomy might be a lesser known name, but their popularity is rising, and for good reason. The Suomy MX Tourer showcases the company's impressive construction with a very well-balanced design that feels extremely comfortable on the head. It is also one of the lightest models around. The AGV AX-8 Evo is another great offering that nearly rivals the premium brands in quality, comfort, and form factor.
Of course, not everybody can afford top-of-the-line models. If you fall into this category, don't be put off. The Bell MX-9 should impress most users. It is one of the only MIPS-equipped dual sports helmets on the market. Plus, it has a sleek profile, lots of ventilation for hot days, and a very soft liner that shouldn't cause any irritation. It isn't the cheapest option around, but it definitely won't break the bank either. Right up there in regards to quality with the MX-9 is the ScorpionExo AT950. This model has the added benefit of a modular design, though it lacks MIPS and is slightly less stylish.
The O'Neal Sierra II, AFX FX-39, and LS2 Pioneer are all budget offerings that compromise slightly on both sides of the fence. They aren't ideal for trail riding nor for highway speeds, but they perform acceptably for each.
