The 10 Best Electric Scooters For Kids

Electric scooters are a fun way for kids to get from A to B, whether it be to a friend's house or to school, but it's important to choose a model that is appropriate for the age of the intended rider. Equally essential is the wearing of helmets and knee and elbow protectors.
In this round of updates, we retained the GoTrax GKS and the Razor Power Core E90 as solid affordable selections. The former has a maximum speed of just 7-1/2 mph, making it well-suited to children just learning how to ride, while the latter option picks up the speed enough to enthuse young teens and experienced riders.
We removed the Kids TraxTwinkling as it seemed unfair to compare a three-wheeled selection that's designed for very young children with more advanced and speedier alternatives. The Xprit Kick was also dropped due to availability concerns. These removals made room for two new comers from Segway. First, the Segway Ninebot E8, which is ideal for kids who are just starting out on two wheels as it can be set to a lower speed limit to begin with before being increased to almost 9 mph when your little one has grown accustomed to it. Secondly, the Segway Ninebot E22, which is again designed to grow with your child, albeit older ones. This one caught our eye due to the fact that an external battery can be added at a later date that effectively puts it on par with many adult scooters in respect of speed and range. It also has front and rear lights for safety and is foldable, though at 28 pounds it may be a little on the heavy side for some youngsters.
For those who want to be able to pop their scooter in the trunk, the Swagtron SK3 is a nice, foldable, lightweight option. The lights in the front wheel further its appeal, but it doesn't have as long a lifespan as other models. The Razor E100 Glow remains another fun light-up choice, though it has similar longevity issues.

Though electric scooters are a ton of fun, they can also be dangerous if you don't teach your child proper safety habits. These include wearing protective gear, like a helmet and pads, not riding in the street, and always attaching a light if they will be riding after dark. It is also important to strictly adhere to manufacturer guidelines regarding age.
During this update, we removed the Razor E100 because we already had the Razor E100 Glow and we didn't feel the former offered anything the latter didn't, especially when you get the inclusion of cool blue illumination for essentially the same price. We also removed the Aosom Moped due to availability issues.
The Razor Power A2, which is one of the lightest options around, makes its debut on our list this year. It maxes out at 10 MPH, so it is suitable for kids as young as eight or nine, but fast enough to keep 10- to 12-year-olds occupied. The Xprit Kick is another new addition. With a 200-pound capacity, a 10-mile range, and 12.4 MPH top speed, it is best suited to young teens who can handle the responsibility of traveling to their friends house on their own.
Other models that are best suited to older children include the Pocket Mod Miniature, Razor E300S, and Razor E325. If you've your little munchkin is just getting used to wheeled rides, the Kid TraxTwinkling, is a smart choice, as it has a stable three-wheel design and goes very slow.
