Fur Free Alliance While there are many great charitable causes out there, we figure if you’re looking at faux fur rugs, you might have certain feelings about the mistreatment of animals. This website has a lot of useful information and resources focused on the fight against real fur, whether you're already a concerned advocate, or just now considering the issue for the first time. From ethics to sustainability, their articles and fact sheets offer broad insights and can help put you in touch with affiliate organizations. However, be warned that what you find out might be harrowing, so steel your heart before heading this way. furfreealliance.com

Hollywood Love Rugs Although this retailer also peddles actual animal-skin rugs, this link will take you directly to their faux fur selection. Their inventory includes fake zebra, cow, bear, and tiger pelts that can be difficult to find elsewhere, especially at equally affordable prices. Meanwhile, if you're not opposed to leather, they also sell cowhides printed to resemble the skins of cheetahs, giraffes, leopards, and more. hollywoodloverugs.com

Editor's Notes

June 16, 2020:

While faux fur rugs require the same observant caution you would practice with any area rug, which primarily entails not injuring yourself by tripping on them, many of the options in this particular category lack substantial grip and can lead to dangerous slips. As such, we strongly suggest also getting a high-traction rug pad to place under your purchase if it has a soft backing.

Moving forward in the same vein, we know for certain that the VanillaChocolate Plush Mat and Ashler Ultra Fluffy both lack significant traction. The good news is, models that don’t have any grip tend to also make great fur throws that you can place on chairs and sofas to add soft and colorful accents to any room.

Although we’d love to tell you all of these options are free of animal-based materials, that just isn’t the case, as both the Lochas Ultra Soft and Carvapet Luxury have suede bottoms. To be sure, these models still have fake fur on top, as all options on this list necessarily must, so no worries there. That being said, we do have a list dedicated to actual sheepskin rugs if that’s what you’re looking for.
