While it's easy to place meats and kabobs directly onto grills, cooking fish over a flame presents its own problems, due to its delicate and flaky texture, and the harsh nature of barbecuing. A small investment in a fish grilling basket makes grilling fish much easier and yields far better results due to the fact that the fish is clamped between two wire frames that hold it together, making turning simple, and helping ensure the contents are properly cooked.

The fish grilling baskets in this ranking conform to two different styles, and the main differences between them lie in their shape and size, and the manner in which they secure the food over the grill. The Penobon Folding, G.A Homefavor BBQ, Qualitech Non Stick, and the GrillPackz BBQ all have roughly square frames, with Stainless steel wire bracings, and will easily hold foods of up to one inch in thickness, whereas the Ordora Portable and the Kinck Portable have slightly deeper baskets that will hold larger items.

Next, there are the elliptical baskets, and these include the Outset QC70, Corona BBQ, GrillPro 21015, and the RSVP International Endurance. These are roughly fish-shaped and clamp a whole large fish or several smaller fillets between the two sides.
