The 10 Best Garage Ceiling Racks

Updated September 12, 2020 by Tina Morna Freitas

This wiki has been updated 23 times since it was first published in January of 2019. If you've donated to charity, had a yard sale and still can't park your cars inside your garage, it's time to invest in some new storage solutions. These ceiling racks are an economical way to organize your seasonal containers and get large items off the floor and out of the way. Your gear will stay clean and be better protected from possible water damage should a leak or flooding occur, too. When users buy our independently chosen editorial choices, we may earn commissions to help fund the Wiki. Editor's Notes

September 10, 2020:

The Fleximounts 4x8 remains the top selection due to the sturdiness of its build, especially the middle support post and its integrated grid to support small and large items on these shelves, plus they feature much longer than the typical ceiling brackets for rock solid attachment to the ceiling. But the size of this option doesn't suit everyone's needs or available space, so we continue to include high-quality, simpler choices like the Store Your Board Double and the Lehigh Two Way.

For this update we also added some more variety to the types of racks included in the list. The E-Z Storage Glide Slide keeps storage bins securely flush with the ceiling in the most space-saving design you can find. If there are no bins on the rails, most people wouldn't even notice they were there. While you have to buy your own totes to place on the rails, you can choose the size, making it the best way to maximize your space.

We also added the Qualward Fishing Rod rack because fishing poles are one type of gear you wouldn't want to store on a shelf with other items. The design of this rack keeps rods from getting entangled with each other, while still not taking up any precious floor or shelf space.

January 24, 2019:

Included a variety of sizing options and configurations, taking into account the typical items homeowners tend to store in their garages. The Fleximounts 4x8 took the number one spot due to its more stable, integrated grid design as well as the superior mounting hardware that comes included with the unit.
