Editor's Notes
April 14, 2020:
During this round of updates, while we removed the HippieWild Boho and Tahoe Gear Gateway due to availability issues, we also added several new selections to our rankings; some of which include the Fortunershop Base Camp – an X-shaped model that can accommodate as many as five queen-sized mattresses, the Ozark Trail Hazel Creek – which comes with some LED lighting and a dividing wall that can double as a projector screen, and the Monster Factory VW01 – an eye-catching choice with a fun design that mimics a 1960’s Volkwsagen camper van.
A few things to keep an eye out for in this category:
Aesthetics: It can’t really be considered a true glamping experience if you’re not looking good doing it. And with that in mind, several of our selections have gone distances to ensure that they stand out from the competition. While models like the Core 9-Person and Ozark Trail Instant Cabin are essentially larger versions of traditional camping tents, and the Dream House Luxury Bell embodies the canvas aesthetic that’s commonly associated with glamping tents, the Timber Ridge Log Cabin sets itself apart with fabrics that impersonate the look of an all-season cottage, and the Monster Factory VW01 is sure to turn heads with its to-scale design based on a vintage Volkswagen camper van.
Space: If you didn’t want lots of it, you’d be shopping for a simple popup tent right now. In addition to being large enough to comfortably sleep larger groups than traditional options – the Ozark Trail Instant Cabin can accommodate three queen-sized mattresses and the Fortunershop Base Camp can accommodate five queen-sized mattresses – many models come with optional dividing walls to help create some privacy. The Ozark Trail Hazel Creek even comes with a divider wall that can double as a projector screen.
Extras: While the Dream House Luxury Bell has provisions that allow users to vent a wood stove through the roof, The Ozark Trail Instant Cabin has a built-in awning that creates a shady outdoor space. The Ozark Trail Hazel Creek comes with two strings of LED lights and a pair of mesh closet organizers, and several models we included – such as the Fortunershop Base Camp – have convenient access ports for extension cords. The Coleman Prairie Breeze sets itself apart with a two-speed fan system that introduces some forced air into the environment.
