While field hockey is traditionally played outdoors, you shouldn't let a little rain or snow ruin your enjoyment of the game. With one of the sticks from our list, you can take your play inside and enjoy all its thrilling speed, no matter the weather. We've put together a ranking of the best options the market has to offer from some of the top names in the business, all designed for indoor use. Editor's Notes

October 21, 2020:

We've extended the list this time around and updated it quite a bit, adding six top-rated sticks and removing four others that have been surpassed by newer models and better products. We've also updated the remaining three. Major brands like TK, STX, and Gryphon offer upgraded models with improved technology on a regular basis for athletes of all skill levels.

For beginners and young players, we've added the TK Total 3 Junior and updated the Gryphon Junior, both of which offer relatively affordable prices and multiple sizes. The Malik Wooden is also for youth players and is the most budget-friendly unit on our list, although it's also the heaviest.

We've added several sticks for serious athletes in different shapes, including the mid bow Adidas Exemplar Hydraskin, the low bow Gryphon Diablo Pro, and the ultra-low bow STX IX 901.

The TK Total 3.5 Innovate and the Grays 600i Dynabow are good all-around choices for intermediate level players, and for advanced players, the STX Surgeon keeps its place at the top with consistently high ratings for its power and touch.

Finally, we've added a new Special Honor for Rage Custom, a company that crafts customized sticks and delivers worldwide.

May 16, 2019:

While the best sticks on the market are built for use outdoors, many of the brands responsible for those top-level sticks also create capable indoor models, some of which are actually pretty impressive. It seems the outdoor game gets a little more advanced, as the amount of specialized sticks (featuring innovations likes ball scoops, for example) is far smaller among indoor models. Still, certain brands, like STX with three different products on our list, seem committed to offering more than just beginner's models. Their Surgeon, in particular, could easily fair pretty well in an outdoor game in the hands of a talented player, but it's interesting that the highest caliber indoor sticks seem to be better suited for defenders and mid-fielders than for attackers. The one exception to this is our number two selection, the Grays Dynabow, which is one of the only short-toed offerings to crack into our ranking.
