Editor's Notes

August 21, 2020:

Luggage tags should have a few essential features to ensure they help you and others to identify your possessions. They should be robust enough to endure the most careless of baggage handlers, they must be securely attached to your baggage, and they should be unique enough to easily identify your possessions as your own, in a sea of similar suitcases.

These tags can also be fun! You can choose from a number of eye-catching colorful, fashionable, cartoony, and suave designs that reflect your persona, and don't blend into the background as you wait patiently for your bags to arrive.

One consideration to take into account when choosing a luggage tag is the amount of security you require. There have been occasions when thieves stalk transit hubs and surreptitiously note the details on luggage tags, on the assumption that the home has been vacated. If you wish to deter this, then a covered tag is the simple solution. In this ranking, the Shacke Luggage Full Back and Samsonite Orange Tiger are both fully-covered examples, whereby one must physically uncover the details inside by way of removing the outer cover.

Alternatively, the Travelon One Size, Ovener Silicone, and Cpacc Identifier all display the name of the owner, but cover everything else, ensuring that the luggage is easily identified by third-parties, while they must handle the tag, usually by detaching it, in order to find the address and contact details for whom it belongs.

If this is not a major concern, then the Finex Cartoon Set, Nicole Miller Bags and Baggage, Samsonite Vectorfunk, Kate Spade Black Cat and the ProudGuy Tufftaag are all robust examples that will stand the test of time, and while they do not obscure the details that they carry, they are certainly highly useful in the event that the luggage is lost, and greatly improve your chances of seeing your bags in the future.
