This wiki has been updated 29 times since it was first published in April of 2018. Espresso-based drinks have exploded in popularity in recent years, but making them at home can be hard, and regular coffee shop beverages quickly add up. A Nespresso machine offers a simple, less expensive option with no learning curve. Our selection of pods includes both generations of the brand's capsules, plus some third-party choices for even more flavor varieties. When users buy our independently chosen editorial recommendations, we may earn commissions to help fund the Wiki. Editor's Notes

June 22, 2020:

Like many single cup coffee makers, as time goes by you tend to have the problem of multiple generations that don't use the same pod shapes. While Nespresso's Vertuoline 2nd generation machine has been out for years, there still isn't as much variety in 3rd party pod choices because many users are quite content to stick with the original machine.

For this reason we added the Capmesso Reusable in this update. It's a well-designed reusable pod. The shape of the vertuo pods allows for a wider opening for loading in your custom grounds without a lot of mess. And the kit includes a scoop that doubles as a tamper.

The Vertuoline also offers the Half Caffeinato that isn't available for the original line. It's a great choice for a cup later in the day, when you want something warm but don't want to stay up all night. It's one of the few options that's available for the Vertuoline and not the original.

Nespresso users seek out third-party pods as a way to save money, or to find varieties not otherwise available. While there are plenty of choices from Nespresso, including the Starbucks Mild Pack, you can't find a tea options. The Republic of Tea Organic provides a quick Matcha when tea drinkers don't have time for a full green tea ceremony.
