Panel heaters are effective due to their large surface area which is heated using an electrical element. They give direct heat to persons within close proximity and also create airflow over their surface called convection, whereby the rising hot air displaces the cold air above it, causing it to circulate around the room.

In this update, we ensured the ranking features a variety of designs for different heating requirements. For small rooms, the EconoHome Convector and the Envi High-Efficiency are two wall-mounted options that are safe for use in a bathroom. The NewAir AH-400 is a small portable heater that is easily positioned under a desk to provide personalized heat. Similarly, the DeLonghi Mica can be moved around as necessary and has a wheeled base and built-in handle. If you are looking for a larger unit that can heat a whole room, then a model with a built-in fan, such as the DeLonghi SlimStyle, is a good choice as it increases the convection process and propels the warm air around the room quickly and efficiently.
