The 10 Best Pokémon Toys
Special Honors
Pikachu Poké Plush Jumbo When the typical 10-inch tall plush toys don't cut it, consider a jumbo one instead. At a whopping 39 inches, this Pikachu Plush from Pokémon Center is one of the largest on the market. It features the same high-grade construction as items found in retail stores in Japan and is manufactured to high standards with an emphasis on attention to detail, quality materials, and original designs not found anywhere else. pokemoncenter.com
Editor's Notes
December 10, 2020:
We removed the Clip and Carry because it was unavailable, but do not fret. We were able to replace it with a very similar model, the Clip 'N' Go Set. It comes with more Poké Balls and figurines than the Clip and Carry and has an adjustable belt that will fit most young children. This option doesn't come with a Master Ball, though the Premier and Timer Ball should suit your young trainer well.
We also removed the Premium Trainer's XY Collection and replaced it with the newer Elite Trainer Box. This selection includes the newer Pokémon in Sword and Shield and contains many of the same goodies that the Premium Trainer has, such as booster packs and dice. It also comes with a competition-legal coin-flip die, which makes it a great option for those who are interested in playing The Pokémon TCG (Trading Card Game) competitively.
My Friend Pikachu remains on the list as almost any child can appreciate this plush. It features red light-up cheeks, wiggly ears, and laughs when squeezed. If this electric Pokémon is not to your little one's liking, then check out the Tomy Gengar Plush. This option is soft to the touch and may help scare off any monsters under the bed.
November 15, 2019:
The Pokémon franchise incorporates a vast universe of loveable and memorable characters that have captured the public's attention for generations. The result is a market overflowing with toys and accessories, which we scoured to find some of the best and most loved items to populate this list.
We ranked items based on play value, quality construction, attention to detail, and more. We wanted to select items that appeal to fans of every ilk, from serious collectors to small children. When bundled with a fun on-theme costume, one of these toys will allow you to immerse yourself in this rich fantasy world.
No list of Pokémon toys would be complete without a few plushies, which is where the Tomy Gengar Plush and newly-added My Friend Pikachu come in. Pikachu replaced our previous CRE Mega Pikachu for several reasons. It's consistently manufactured and exceptionally detailed, sports light-up cheeks and wiggling ears, talks, and comes with the batteries needed to get him going.
For selections that involve the whole family, look to Hedbanz Game and Monopoly Kanto Edition. Just like regular Monopoly, the Kanto edition takes up considerable time to play 1 round, so be aware of the commitment going in. We think the twee Pokémon playing tokens alone are enough to justify spending a few hours with it, though.
During this latest update, we also said goodbye to the Charmander Backpack to make way for something with better play value, which is why we added the Premium Trainer's XY Collection in its place. This collection is comprehensive, packed with accessories, provides hours of fun, and is appropriate for any serious fan.
