The 10 Best Portable Urinals

Updated February 21, 2021 by Christopher Thomas

This wiki has been updated 28 times since it was first published in December of 2017. You know the old adage: When you gotta go, you gotta go. One of these portable urinals will ensure that you won’t be caught off guard and scrambling to find a public restroom before it’s too late. Available in designs for both males and females, they’re super useful for road trips, camping excursions, and as a backup for when you’re waiting on the plumber to show up and fix the toilet. When users buy our independently chosen editorial recommendations, we may earn commissions to help fund the Wiki. Stadium Pal This solution from Stadium Pal has been serving concert-goers and sports season ticket holders since 1998. The male version comes with external catheters, an 18-inch hose, and a durable bag to collect urine. The Stadium Gal version is discreet, with an odor-containing pouch and a drainage valve. stadiumpal.com

Johnny on the Spot Cart This urinal isn’t small and lightweight like most of the models on the list, but it’s portable in the sense that you can easily transport it to a location that won’t accommodate a standard porta potty. The cart is about three feet tall, with a wide bowl that contains spills and built-in wheels on the base. johnnyonthespot.com

Editor's Notes

February 19, 2021:

The Outfandia Mobile remains in the top spot, partly because it's designed for both male and female use and has a convenient, expanding reservoir. The TravelJohn Disposable is still the top single-use option, although the Cleanis Carebag performs nearly as well. For a hospital-style solution, both the Tilcare Chamber and PrimeMed Amber are good choices, and their reliable lids should stay in place even when heavily jostled.

As far as women-dedicated options go, there are two main styles. The all-silicone Venus to Mars Silicone is the most well-known, but for a few reasons, The Tinkle Belle is better for most ladies. It's suitable for a wide range of body types, doesn't require you to undress or assume any wildly unnatural positions, and has a rigid body that all but eliminates unfortunate leaks.

September 27, 2019:

Removed the Gloveleya Flexible Toilet as it was no longer available. After identifying myriad instances of leaking issues that seemed to occur after only a few uses, we opted to eliminate the Advantage Urinal System as well.

With the Outfandia Mobile, on the other hand, plenty of positive attributes stood out to us, prompting its rise in the rankings. We noted its tight, reliable seal (which, unfortunately, isn’t as common as you may think with these devices), and users seem to love that it makes for a mess-free experience.

Of the new additions, the Tilcare Chamber is a relatively heavy-duty option that won’t easily succumb to wear and tear. We noted one particularly handy feature: you can hang it on a bedrail using its well-placed handle. The Venus to Mars Female is a highly effective model for women, and its compact, lightweight design makes it easy to conceal and travel with.
