Sit Healthier Split Saddle Stool If ergonomics is your primary concern this high-end stool might be worth looking into. Its specially designed seat keeps the user's pelvis tilted forward in order to encourage an upright back position and a healthier posture in turn, which can be very important if you're sitting down for many hours at a time. The level of tilt, height range, and caster type can all be customized, and it's available with or without a ring-type footrest. sithealthier.com

Editor's Notes

August 11, 2020:

If your selection is going to be used in a spa, dentist office, or similar professional environment, the most typical design for your application would be something like the Boss Office Products Spa Stool or Nova Microdermbrasion. If you're particularly focused on comfort the Master Massage Ergonomic is a good selection that's intended for a similar environment, however it's not the best choice for everyone due to its large cushion size and relatively high price. All of these models are designed for a low or midrange seating position, so if you do most of your work at a taller desk you'd be better off looking at the Boss Office Products Drafting Stool or Seville Classics UltraHD. These selections both have built-in foot and back rests that create an experience more akin to a standard office chair rather than a low stool.

For workshops, garages, and other such industrial environments the sleek and minimalist designs of the aforementioned options may be a little out of place. For these types of applications heavy-duty models like the DeWalt Shop Stool and the WEN 73012 are a bit more appropriate. In addition to strong steel constructions these models also feature trays for holding commonly used tools or parts, as well as larger casters that are more robust than the small plastic wheels commonly found on stools intended for office environments.

Selections such as the Pro-Lift C-2036D, Torin TR6300, and Traxion 2-700 are similar in build quality to other stools intended for workshops and garages, however these models are specifically designed to provide the ultra-low seating position that's often required when working on vehicles like cars, trucks, and motorcycles. Besides autowork, these options are also perfect for jobs like tiling, bicycle repair, and all manner of tasks that require a similarly low position.
