Editor's Notes

May 21, 2020:

Steel toe work boots are vital to keeping your feet safe on a variety of job sites. While none are a substitute for practicing safe and responsible behavior, they may help prevent injury if something unexpected happens.

Those who want something that looks casual enough to wear to the bar for after work drinks will like the Thorogood American Heritage and Wolverine Raider. While these both offer the same high level of protection as the other options on our list, they closely resemble styles that come from more fashion-focused brands. Of course, there is no doubt the Ariat Workhog are a rather flashy choice that seems to be just as much about style as protection, with their elaborate stitching and tall shaft, though unless you work on a ranch, you may want to skip this option.

The Condor Colorado are another pair that boast a high shaft to keep the ankle fully protected and supported. Plus, they come for a budget-friendly price, so you don't have to spend a ton of money on a pair of boots that you know are going to get scuffed up and destroyed on the job. We also added the Ever Boots Protector for those on a hunt for a budget pair. While, overall, they have a pretty sturdy build and boast excellent electric shock resistance, the eyelets are a bit weak.

Even with the best alarm clocks people are often in a rush to get out the doors in the morning. With this in mind, we thought it prudent to include models with speed lacing hooks at the top, like the Thorogood American Heritage, Wolverine Raider, Caterpillar 2nd Shift, Keen Utility Pittsburgh, Timberland Pro Pit Boss, and Ever Boots Protector, which may save you a few precious moments when rushing out the door.
