The 8 Best Steering Wheel Desks
Editor's Notes
June 13, 2020:
Many people will choose to drive to a coffee shop, purchase an expensive drink and sit on a hard stool at a crowded counter, just to have a spot to use their computer. With these, you can recreate your own private office wherever you can find parking, and forego paying for a beverage. Just remember not to drive your vehicle if the desk is attached to the steering wheel.
If you’re looking for a model with an ample amount of surface area that’s not too bulky, go with the ElfAnt Tray. It’s not really portable, but the multitude of ways it can be set up and altered make it a clear top choice. If, however, you’re just in the market for something that fits in a bag and allows you to eat and work comfortably, try either the Cutequeen Tray or the XBY-US Travel Tray. Another straightforward and cheap pick is the Autut Workstation, though it’s more specialized for tablet users.
For artists, professionals and others that require a big, heavy-duty option, the Wheeldesk Contractor is an impressive 23 1/2 by 16 1/2 inches, and sports a nice maple finish. The most travel-friendly of the bunch is probably the RoadPro 24DT, due to its light weight and because a clip-board can come in handy in other settings. Check out our travel trays ranking to find more mobile desks.
The AutoExec Wheelmate Extreme would be higher on the list if it was cheaper. It’s made from a quality material and certainly has aesthetic appeal, but it doesn’t really stand out enough in other meaningful areas.
