The 8 Best Strap Clamps
This wiki has been updated 21 times since it was first published in February of 2019. Handy-persons, professional woodworkers, and DIYers can never have enough clamps. These band or strap-style models are especially useful, because they not only fit on standard squares and rectangles, but also accommodate irregularly shaped objects, too. Their operation takes a little getting used to, but once mastered, you'll find them incredibly versatile.

Editor's Notes
February 25, 2019:
We looked at clamps that would work for both woodworking and laying hardwood floors, the two common usages for strap or band models. When it comes to durability, it's tough to beat the Bessey Vario Angle, but it's worth noting that it isn't entirely intuitive, so for those who aren't up for the steep learning curve, the Powertec Basic may perhaps be better. The trade-off is that the latter isn't quite as robust as the former, although that would be a tall order anyway, because the Bessey is often admitted to be the sturdiest option you can find. We also added a couple of simple yet rugged Pony models as well as the MLCS Merle, which has a tough body but plastic corners that seem to break just a little too easily.
